Google Gemini: AI Arrives on Watches, Cars, and TVs

Google has announced an expansion of its artificial intelligence (AI), Gemini, which will be natively integrated into a range of Android devices, including smartwatches with Wear OS, automotive systems (Android Auto and Google Built-in), Google TV, and Extended Reality (XR) platforms. This initiative aims to transform the user experience, making AI more ubiquitous in daily life.

The tech giant revealed its plans during “The Android Show,” an event preceding the Google I/O conference, signaling a strong investment in making Gemini the core of the Android experience. The update promises more fluid and intelligent interactions across multiple devices.

Gemini in Action on Your Devices:

  • Smarter Wear OS: In the coming months, smartwatches equipped with Wear OS, such as the Google Pixel Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch models, will receive Gemini. Users will be able to perform tasks like setting reminders, getting event information, and much more, directly from their wrist, using natural voice commands.
  • Enhanced Driving with Android Auto and Google Built-in: Gemini will arrive on Android Auto “in the coming months” and later in cars with the Google Built-in system. The AI will allow users to summarize texts, translate messages, get detailed information about locations and routes, and interact more effectively with Google Maps and media apps, making the driving experience safer and more productive.
  • Personalized Google TV: Later this year, Gemini will be incorporated into Google TV. This means users will be able to ask for movie and series recommendations using natural language, get answers to questions, and even find educational content on YouTube more interactively.
  • The Immersive Future with Android XR: In collaboration with Samsung, Google is working to bring Gemini to Android XR next year, promising new forms of interaction on headsets and extended reality glasses.

In addition to these integrations, features like “Gemini Live,” which allows camera and screen sharing during AI interactions, are already being made available to Android users at no additional subscription cost.

This expansion of Gemini represents an important step by Google towards creating a more cohesive and intelligent Android ecosystem, where AI assistance is always available and ready to help proactively and personally across all the devices we use.
